Nigeria’s Super Eagles Move Up, 5 Places in New FIFA Rankings

The Super Eagles’ performances in their international friendly games against Poland and Serbia played a significant role which saw them move up in latest rankings. The national team has moved from 52nd to 47th position.

Victor Moses gave Nigeria 1-0 win against Poland away from home before going down to another European side 2-0 to Serbia at the Hive stadium in London. The Super Eagles are now sixth in Africa.

Meanwhile Eagles’ World Cup opponents dropped in the latest rankings as Argentina slipped from 4th to 5th position in the new rannkings. Croatia went down in three places to 18th, while Iceland dropped to 22nd in the world.

Nigeria 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Group E contenders, South Africa rose four places to 72 while Libya and Seychelles dropped to 100th and 194th respectively.

World Cup champions Germany maintain their number one spot, Brazil in second, Belgium are third, Portugal are in fourth and Argentina fifth.

In sixth position are Switzerland, France are in seventh, Spain in eight, Chile and Poland are in 9th and 10th respectively. The next Coca Cola FIFA World Ranking will be in May 17 2018 .
